Her parents gave us 10k to pay for our wedding. We have done everything possible to get the wedding under that. We had a meeting with the place we want to get married yesterday and worked the budget out to under 8k (that leaves room for her dress, my tux, wedding rings, cake, and photographer hopefully). We cut our guest list down to 85 people. We came to talk to her mom about it and her mom flipped because we were having a cash bar instead of an open bar. An open bar is 2k and a cash bar is $175. She refused to let us do it and refuses to give us any more money to cover the increased costs. She also does not like our guest list and wants to invite everyone the family knows bringing up the guest list to over 100 people. My family is very easy going and is happy with whatever we do but her parents go to a lot of expensive weddings and do not want to be embarrassed because ours is on a budget. Her mom wants us to wait and save up more money so we can afford what she wants.
