What’s A Cool Thing For A Company To Give An Employee For Their Wedding Present?
My company is trying to come up with a unique standard gift idea (as opposed to flowers or a fruit basket) for employee’s when they get married. Our budget is only about $100 so we can’t give employees an extra week off or anything overly extravagant. It also needs to be appropriate for people who are either getting married locally or at a destination (i.e. someone suggested paying for the use of a limo for a day, but a lot of people are choosing destination weddings these days so a limo wouldn’t work for them). If you have any ideas I’d be most appreciative!

My company / coworkers gave my husband and I a $100 gift card to a home improvement store as a wedding gift. It was AWESOME! We could pick from new paint for the living room, a new microwave, stuff for the yard – it was great!
We eneded up putting the gift card towards a new fridge, (which we LOVE).
Even if you’re not a homeowner, you’ll find something you can’t live without at a home improvement store.
What about a $100 gift certificate to a nice local restaurant. Not only is the company providing a nice gift, they are supporting the local economy.
A gift card to a department store or local retailer.
A wine and cheese basket. The company could arrange for wine glasses to be etched with the company logo and each employee getting married would get two of these along with the wine and cheese basket.
Good luck with your information hunt. What a lovely gesture your company is planning!
What about an evening getaway at a bed and breakfast somewhere … although that might be a bit much for the $100 budget.
A fancy bottle of wine and a pair of wine glasses? Or wine and a cheese or fruit basket?
EDIT: I like Laura’s idea of the home improvement store gift card. Any couple would appreciate that!
I think a gift card would be perfect, as the 2nd answerer suggested.
That is probably the most standard you can get, especially when it comes to the men who get married.
Just get them a gift card to one of the places they registered.
Get a gift card to any store such as Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s. Anything pretty standard. This way, if a man or a woman gets married it can be equal and you don’t have to spend time going through registries and finding gifts that are of the same price for each person.
try and find out if the couple have a register anywhere and maybe either get a gift off the list, or a gift card from that company. Or you could get them a night at a nice motel or bed and breakfast locally for them to use when they wish
Maybe a one nights hotel stay. It doesn’t have to be for their honeymoon. It can be as newly weds and they can use it in the first year.
or…
A Harbor dinner cruise gift certificate type.
or…
Pair of Disneyland tickets or any amusement park like that.
Target gift certificate. Practical, inoffensive.
If you want to be classier, a half-day package at a local spa for the bride, or the younger of a same-sex couple.
