Buy your candy wholesale and in bulk. Shouldn’t be as expensive. Fountains aren’t terribly expensive. Butterflies….IDK

I priced a chocolate fountain and it was $200 – $400 depending on how much you have.
I don’t know about the others!

I’ve been to a wedding with 1 & 3. Both very nice touches and I’ll be doing my own version of a candy bar at my wedding. We’ll have 3 types of candies in large vases on each table this way they will double as the main part of our centerpieces and we’ll also have some votive candels and flower petals scattered. It’ll cut costs and I think it’s really pretty. This is a great site where you can get your candy in bulk http://www.candywarehouse.com/candycolor... .
EDIT: I heard the same thing about butterfly releases as some of the other posters.. Many usualy die in the boxes… I wouldn’t bother with that one.

These aren’t from personal experience, but the experience of friends:
1. Including everything from the jars that hold the candy, the candy itself, and the to-go boxes/bags the candy is put in: $150-$300
2. For the butterflies I’m guesstimating $500. For 2 white doves it was $300.
3. Depends on size of the fountain and the rules your venue to be honest. One friend had a $150 fountain and the other wound up paying close to $750 (since the venue didn’t allow an outside fountain).
All of the weddings took place in MN.

I have never seen a candy buffet IRL, but the pictures I’ve seen online have been awesome. Check out amyatlas.com
I have been to a wedding that had a chocolate fountain & it was fantastic! Really delicious & an absolute hit with all the guests. I give this one two thumbs up.
The butterfly release. Do not do it. I went to a wedding that did this. I found it absurd & heartless to be holding living insects to toss like they are nothing more than confetti. It was even worse when everyone opened up the boxes & a considerable majority of the butterflies were dead. So now I was holding a dead insect to toss at the happy bride & groom. Gross.
Additionally, non-native butterflies wreak havoc on your local ecology. Please, give this one up.
If you must have butterflies, using butterfly shaped, dissolveable paper is a much kinder & less disgusting option.

1 – Depending on the types of candy that you use, the price would vary a great deal.
#2 – Don’t do it! my best friend’s sister did this but most of the butterflies died before they were released. When they were released, the dead butterflies landed on the bride, groom, and guests. The few that survived were shortly killed by birds. It was totally disgusting.
#3 – It depends on whether you rent or buy the fountain. Around Christmas time, there will be stores that have fountains for sale for very reasonable prices…just watch the ads. Other than that, the chocolate is fairly affordable.

We’re having a candy bar, and they will double as our favors.
The butterfly release never goes well. My fiance always tells me the story about how his cousin had a butterfly release, but the butterflies just sat in the boxes, and they never came out. I always get a good laugh about it. Butterflies fall asleep in dark spaces, so it’s just not a good idea.
Chocolate fountains are pretty common at weddings, but unecessary if you do the candy bar, and vice versa if you would prefer the chocolate fountain.

i went to a wedding last summer and they had a candy buffet, and since their weddings colors where light pink and brown they had light pink chinese carry out containers so the guests could take the candy home. they had tons of different candies to choose from, it was their favorite candies. they had m&ms, skittles and other childhood candies similar to those. it was wonderful idea. they set it up by the entrance of the hall. the bride said that she went to a whole sale candy dealer, so it was much cheaper.
